In Ukraine, it was allowed to combine vaccines against coronavirus during immunization. 💉 However, only certain drugs can be mixed, and also only in certain cases. This was told by the immunologist and head of the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis under the Ministry of Health, a member of the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Health on vaccination Fyodor Lapiy.
If a person is vaccinated with the first dose of mRNA – this is Pfizer / BioNTech, then the second dose should be given with the vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech;
If it is not known what the first dose was given, or the person is vaccinated with the Moderna mRNA vaccine, then the second dose is given with the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine;
🔹 if a person is vaccinated with the first dose from AstraZeneca, then it is optimal that the second dose also comes from AstraZeneca.
But, if after the first dose of AstraZeneca thrombosis (venous or arterial) was recorded or there was a serious adverse event (for example, an allergic reaction), or the third option – when we see that there is a shortage of the vaccine from AstraZeneca, then we use the second dose of the vaccine on the platform mRNA, i.e. Pfizer / BioNTech.
🤔 Everyone is asking about CoronaVac. The point is that we make decisions based on research that already has intermediate results. Such studies exist for the combination of AstraZeneca and Pfizer / BioNTech, but we are not aware of studies for the combination of CoronaVac and other vaccines.
