The Japanese performed a unique operation on the lungs of a coronavirus patient

👼 A resident of Japan received a lucky ticket – after all, it was on her and her family that doctors performed a successful experimental operation.

It all started with the fact that a Japanese woman fell ill with COVID-19 in December 2020. Every day she got worse and worse. Even the hospital could not help the woman to cure a severe form of pneumonia.

The patient’s lungs had already begun to fail, until the doctors suggested taking a risk – to transplant parts of the organ of her husband and son.  Such an operation is performed for the first time, because previously patients with coronavirus received lung transplants only from donors who were in a coma.

The operation took place within 11 hours and now the patient with the donors is doing well. 👍👍👍

Experts from Kyoto University Hospital say:
💬 “The world’s first living donor lung transplant is expected to be a promising treatment for patients with severe lung injury.”
