👼 A resident of Japan received a lucky ticket – after all, it was on her and her family that doctors performed a successful experimental operation.
It all started with the fact that a Japanese woman fell ill with COVID-19 in December 2020. ➕Every day she got worse and worse. Even the hospital could not help the woman to cure a severe form of pneumonia.
The patient’s lungs had already begun to fail, until the doctors suggested taking a risk – to transplant parts of the organ of her husband and son. ☝ Such an operation is performed for the first time, because previously patients with coronavirus received lung transplants only from donors who were in a coma.
The operation took place within 11 hours and now the patient with the donors is doing well. 👍👍👍
Experts from Kyoto University Hospital say:
💬 “The world’s first living donor lung transplant is expected to be a promising treatment for patients with severe lung injury.”
