Children with legal guardians and disabled kids receive welfare gain

Ukraine Parliament adopted a law on increasing social guarantees for children under guardianship and children with disabilities ✋

☝ Social guarantees for certain categories of citizens by changing some laws of Ukraine. 239 MPs voted for the corresponding bill # 2494 in the second reading and in total. 🙋

🤗 According to the explanatory note, the bill provides for increasing social guarantees for children who are under guardianship or guardianship, including for children with disabilities, and unifies the principles of providing assistance for children to single mothers and low-income families.

Assistance for children over whom custody or guardianship is established is provided in an amount that is 2.5 times the subsistence minimum for a child of the corresponding age, children with disabilities over whom custody or guardianship is established – 3.5 times the subsistence minimum for a child of the corresponding age …

💸 If a child (a child with a disability) is paid a duly assigned pension, alimony, a scholarship, state aid (except for state social assistance paid for children with a disability, in accordance with the law), the amount of benefit for the child over whom the guardianship, is defined as the difference between 2.5 times the subsistence minimum (for a child with a disability over whom custody or guardianship is established – 3.5 times the subsistence minimum) for a child of the corresponding age and the amount of the assigned pension, alimony, scholarships, and state assistance.

In addition, according to the adopted changes, at the birth of the first and each next child, assistance is assigned in the amount of UAH 41,280. At the same time, assistance is paid as a one-time payment in the amount of UAH 10,320, and the rest of the assistance is paid over the next 36 months in equal installments in accordance with the procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The bill also introduces state social assistance for caring for single persons who have reached the age of 80 and require constant care.
